Vancouver, B.C. – In conjunction with
the closing arguments of the British Columbia Supreme Court hearing on
the constitutionality of Canada's anti-polygamy law (Section 293 of the
Criminal Code), the Vancouver Polyamory Group (Vanpoly) – in support of
the efforts of the Canadian Polyamory Advocacy Association (CPPA) in
that litigation – will be hosting a Panel Discussion on the aspects and
realities of Polyamory.

Polyamorists practice a new form of ethical and principled
non-monogamy which embraces gender equality. Polyamorous relationships
can include a variety of gender combinations and sexual orientations. http://polyadvocacy.ca/what-is-polyamory

The Panel Forum will take place at Joe's Apartment, a new venue, at
919 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC, on April 11th, 2011, from 7:00 to
9:00 PM.

With this court hearing generating a significant amount of discussion
regarding Polyamory within Canadian society, this forum will allow

more, an opportunity to discuss the benefits and pitfalls of this
growing approach to consensual multiple person  relationships.

I think I have found a way to have legalized multiple spouses within Canadian jurisdictions and law.

1) live briefly in Saskatchewan ( to establish Saskatchewan identity of domecile)

2) start an application to appear in Saskatchewan Family law court under any (1) number of Saskatchewan legislative Acts. i.e Pension Act, Family Property Act, child maintainance act etc.

3) Appear in court with a spouse (civil marriage or someone you have cohabited with for 2 years anywhere.)

4) Use a subject you wish the court to clarify, such as ownership in a home, trust fund, pension, bank account etc.

5) both of you claim to be spouses under either civil marriage or cohabitation as spouses.

6) the court will make its decision which will include naming and declaring with binding authority you both as spouses due to cohabitation as spouses.

7) repeat 1-6 for as many spouses as you wish.

8) you can now move to Ontario for certain and perhaps other provinces as spouses. Some of them have legislation that allows recognition of multiple spouses if the "relationships" occured in a jurisdictuion that allows them. This was previosuly thought to be countries outside of north america.

Saskatchewan case laws have allowance for numerous spouses simultaneously and their AG has publically stated that one need not divorce a spouse prior to entering into new spousal relationships that are valid under Saskatchewan legilsation and laws. (s.51 of the Saskatchewan Family Property Act-formerly Marriage act..and numerous other legislations as well.)

If, after all this, you wish for any reason to formalize your relationships with "civil marriage contracts" simply petition the courts for equality of treatment guaranteed all Canadians under the Charter. Since married persons may take multiple spouses (additional common law marriages) under provincial legislation, it is discrimination to deny equal rights of mutiple civil marriage registration  based on marital status.
